AfropolitanDC is back and bringing in the summer with “The Sweet Life” on Friday June 3rd. Connect over cocktails and experience a variety of Afro-Caribbean cultures through a sampling of delicious desserts and a signature Afropolitan cocktail. You can also help them choose a drink to be named their signature “Afropolitan” cocktail. They will also be spicing up the experience with some scrumptious Afro-Caribbean hos d’oeuvres and celebrating the independence of 4 African countries – DRC, Djibouti, Madagascar, Mozambique and the Seychelles. CARIBBEAN JUBILEE

You are invited to enjoy Art Impact USA’s second annual art exhibition, celebrating Caribbean-American heritage. This exhibition showcases twenty artists who have been inspired by the Caribbean, either from the Caribbean or have Caribbean background or affiliation. These thirty-six beautiful works of art give voice to the artists’ humanity and spirit of jubilee.

MR. AND MISS IGBO AMERICA PAGEANT- 7/1/16

IGBO YOUTH KINGS&QUEENS USA, founded in 2014 by Chidinma Emenike, is an organization that show case the cultural of Igbo people and under the organization they have pageants and Igbo day events, where Igbo people come to gather to celebrate the culture. This group originates its membership from the seven Igbo speaking States of Nigeria specifically from Abia, Anambra, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo & Rivers States. This organization also helps the Igbo communities in the US and abroad to help less privileged children.

IGBO MASQUERADE PERFORMANCE- 7/23/16

The Smithsonian National Museum of African Art will feature Master Igbo healer Oscar Mokeme who will perform a powerful masquerade through music, dance, and drama. The artist will engage the audience with all five senses. Mokeme will catch us in the thrall of a condensed sense of time and space. Presented in conjunction with Senses of Time: Video and Film-based Works of Africa.
