ETHNIC AND CULTURAL GROUPS
In a small town called African Quarters in Palestine resides about 450 Afro-Palestinians. These Palestinians have a strong African identity but many feel just as much a part of the Palestinian community. Many of them came from the counties of Sudan, Chad, Nigeria, and Senegal, all in West Africa; with the goal of entering Jerusalem to perform their Muslim pilgrimage. Some, however, came by way of slavery. Many Afro-Palestinians fought side by side with indigenous in the struggle for freedom, and feel just as much a part of the country as anyone else!
